Bridal Shower Invitation Wording Etiquette

Gagan Dhillon
At a loss for words? Don't fret, read on for the bridal shower invitation messages and wording etiquettes.
As the maid of honor, to create the most unforgettable bridal shower is your responsibility. The key to throw a successful one is 'the detail'. So, if you want the best shower for your best friend or sister, start with the very basics. That's where the invitations come in.
An invite is the first peek the guests have. Its wording has to be apt. The invitations are considered so dicey that they will strike fear.
But realistically speaking, wordings required in them are not that formidable. Let us prep you up with the appropriate wording etiquette. Who knows maybe you can teach wonder woman a thing or too!

Important Wording Etiquette

  • If you are following a theme, include your invite in it too.
  • Ask the bride whether she wants a traditional or contemporary invite.
  • Don't invite guests who haven't been invited to the wedding.
  • Make sure you invite all the bride's girlfriends.
  • Send one invite per guest, and make sure you mention the return address for RSVP.
  • If the bride is registered for gifts, you can also add that to the invite.
  • Include directions to the venue.
  • Don't forget the basics, such as the bride's full name, date, and venue.
  • If you are following a theme, do let the guests know about it.
  • If you are throwing a couple's shower, do mention it.
  • If it is a 'no gift shower', mention that too.
  • Remember to send the invitations well in time - 4 weeks in advance will do.

Wording Ideas

For the wordings, there are many ways for you to swing. You can go formal/traditional, make it a poem, or make it fun. Given here are some examples:

The important thing to remember is that as long as everything is well planned and thought of, there are little chances that something will go wrong. Always keep a quick checklist. Check if the spellings of the names are correct. If it is a surprise shower, make sure your guests know it is one, and don't spoil it for the bride.
Make sure that the venue and time are correct, if any changes are to be made, inform well in advance. This should get you started with the invitations. There is no need to hesitate, get the creative juices flowing, and get on with the bridal shower.
