In a civil wedding ceremony, a bride and groom are free to make verbal commitments to one another at the time they exchange their wedding rings. These verbal commitments are specially made so that the couple can express their true feelings for one another and what they mean in each others' lives.
As there are families and guests from both sides, who would like to a bit of tradition in the overall ceremony, many soon-to-be-married couples like to write their own wedding vows for a civil ceremony.
These vows not only make their families and guests happy, but are also a way to strengthen the love and bond between one another. It also marks a memorable beginning of the best years of their lives ahead. And to help such couples (and I mean you) write their vows, we have put this article together.

Examples of Wedding Vows

Before you make the decision about writing your own civil wedding vows, do get an approval from the Superintendent Registrar. As this isn't going to be a church wedding, the exchange of vows have to be approved by the Registrar's office.
Why? Because writing your own vows might seem like a daunting task and the Registrar can make some helpful suggestions for the same. Having said that, the vows given in this article are quite basic and often used.

Bride's Wedding Vows

Example 1

With this ring, I, (Bride's name) thee wed, and with it, I bestow upon thee all that I have to offer.

Example 2

I, (Bride's name) give you this ring, as a token of my love. Let this be a symbol of our marriage. I vow to be loving, faithful, and loyal to you, throughout our lives with one another.

Example 3

I, (Bride's name), take you, (Groom's name) to be my husband. I promise to love you, honor you, and respect you. I will stand by you, no matter what, and be always true to you. I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and faithfulness.
Today, I ask you to wear it as a reminder of our undying love and the vows we have taken. Whatever life may bring, I will always love you and be by your side.

Example 4

I, (Bride's name), take you, (Groom's name), to be my lawfully wedded husband. Before these witnesses, today I vow to love you and care for you for as long as we both shall live. I take you, my love, my everything, with all your faults and strengths, as I offer myself to you with all my faults and strengths too. I will help you when you need help, and turn to you when I need help. I choose you as the person with whom I will spend my life.

Groom's Wedding Vows

Example 1

I (Groom's name), take you (Bride's name), to be my wife, to have and to hold, from this day forth, to love, honor, and cherish, to comfort and respect, in sorrow or in joy, in hardship or in plenty, as long as we both shall live.

Example 2

I, (Groom's name), do take you, (Bride's name), to be my lawfully wedded wife. I promise that from this day forward, I will be a loving, caring, and faithful husband, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, I will love and cherish you, as long as I shall live.

Example 3

I, (Groom's name), take you, (Bride's name), to be my lawfully wedded wife. I promise from this day forward to be your faithful husband, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as I shall live.

Example 4

I, (Groom's name), take you, (Bride's name), to be my beloved wife, to have and to hold you, to honor you, to treasure you, and to be at your side in sorrow and in joy, in the good times and in the bad, and to love and cherish you always. I promise you this from my heart for all the days of my life.
No matter what kind of ceremony is conducted, the bride and the groom have to exchange the vows during the ceremony. As it is one of the most romantic and heartfelt moments in a couples' lives, sometimes, finding the right words can be tougher than expected.
This doesn't mean that you don't love your partner; the only issue is that words can't find a way. Although writing the civil ceremony wedding vows can be more comfortable than any, even the simplest words can fail you at times.
All I would suggest you is to think about the love, trust, and commitment between the two of you and how important do you think it is. I know that once you open your heart and let your true feelings show the way, writing the vows won't be complicated at all.
