How to Make Corsages for Weddings

Corsages are created from a small group of flowers and are worn by women, mostly in weddings. Corsages are similar to boutonnieres worn by men, but are slightly larger in size. A corsage is normally worn by the bride, her bridesmaids, by the mother of the bride, and the mother of the groom. Give the wedding a personal touch and prepare these corsages yourself.

• Confirm the colors that are going to be used in all the wedding dresses. Buy flowers in the same colors for your corsages.
• Try to include flowers which are going to be used in the decoration of the wedding. For example, if roses are used for the floral arrangement of the venue, include a small rose bud in the corsage.

• Choose between one big flower or a few small flower buds. For example, a corsage that has a carnation, is replaceable with 4 or 5 small buds of roses.

• Buy a few flowers of your choice, some greens, baby breath, glue, scissors, ribbons, florist wires, and floral pins. Though you will find all these flowers at your local florist, you also have the option to use artificial flowers.

• Arrange the flowers in a shape you like, before tying them. The number of flowers that you will require for each corsage depends on the size of flowers you are going to use. See which flowers are best suited. Add greens and some baby breath. This will give a more professional look to your corsage.

• Once you select the flowers, wrap their stems florist wires or a floral tape. Use floral pins if you feel the flowers or leaves are not in place. If you are scared that the pins might hurt someone, you can also use glue.
• To hide the floral wire, wrap a colorful ribbon on it. Choose a ribbon that suits the colors of the flowers.

• Remember to use very less wire to tie the stems, so that the corsage doesn't become heavy for the wearer. If you are opting for fresh flowers, you can prepare the corsages 24 hours in advance and keep them refrigerated; they'll remain fresh during the ceremony.

You can buy a simple beaded bracelet and use that instead of just a string and some ribbon, to give your corsage a different look.
