If you are anxious, snappy, overworked, jittery, drained, tired, and have butterflies in your stomach about walking down the aisle, then these may be signs that you are stressed with wedding planning. Many brides and grooms get an adrenaline rush when it comes to planning their weddings.
They leave no stone unturned when it comes to their wedding preparations. Even if they have mentally planned their perfect wedding day, there is a probability that things won't go as they desired. This causes additional stress for them. Also, this takes a toll on their physical and emotional health.
It also poses a threat of falling sick right before the wedding. Apart from this, having non-feasible and elaborate wedding plans which go out of control can cause some serious stress and anxiety to the bride and groom. However, there are certain steps which you can undertake in order to get some relief from wedding planning stress.
This story gives you a list of measures, which will help you to deal with wedding planning stress.

Set a Budget

One of the key reasons why brides and grooms get stressed is because they allow the wedding budget to explode. Only get things that are absolutely necessary. Think about it, do you actually need the expensive centerpieces or the imported flowers from Europe? Unless you really have the budget, don't call your neighbor's fourth cousin to your wedding.
Cut down the cost wherever necessary, otherwise you will return from your honeymoon only to face a huge wedding debt.

Look After Your Body

Many brides are not comfortable with their body and want to lose weight. For this, they resort to a crash diet or excessive exercise. This gives them dark circles, an unhealthy look, and even makes them fall sick closer to the wedding date. Remember, your fiancé has decided to get married to you because he likes you the way you are.
Don't burden yourself with excessive diets and exercise, instead, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and stay hydrated. This will ensure that you will have a lovely glow on your face on the wedding day. Doing some yoga, jogging, dancing, and brisk walking will ensure that you stay fit for your wedding.

Time the Tasks

The number of tasks and the little time at your disposal to plan your wedding can be overwhelming. Instead of getting daunted by it, make a list of all the 'TO DO' tasks. Ensure that you cover all the details. Now, arrange them according to the priority and start executing them.
For example, if you have to get a wedding dress designed, you will have to give it before time so that you will have enough buffer for fitting and alterations. Give all tasks a time frame for completion. Then plan and delegate them, and ensure that you execute them as per the deadlines. This will reduce a lot of 'last-minute-pending-tasks' stress.

Seek Help and Delegate Tasks

Many brides want to do everything themselves, so much so, that they do not even involve their fiancé into the wedding planning. The brides keep running from pillar to post to do all the work, and when they see their fiancé on a couch with their PlayStation, hell breaks loose.
Hence, it is advisable that you discuss the tasks with him in the first place, and ask him to execute a few of them. Share your concern, and seek help from your family and friends to assist you in the wedding planning, so that things happen faster and as decided. They will be more than happy to help you out.

It's Okay if 'Everything' is Not Perfect

Every bride dreams about her wedding since she is little, and wants everything to be 'Perfect'. But when things don't go as per her elaborate plans, she turns into the dreadful 'Bridezilla'. This causes excessive stress, not only for her but also for her loved ones.
Remember, what truly matters is your happiness as a couple, and it is 'okay' if everything is not perfect. So don't lose your cool and patience if something doesn't happen as you imagined it in the first place.

Avoid Conflicts

Try to avoid conflicts during the pre-wedding phase. As people with different temperaments come together, there are chances that arguments and conflicts will take place.
If your parents are divorced and have come together for your wedding, there may be some less-than-friendly vibes exchanged between them. This will cause you to feel very uncomfortable. Try to resolve their conflicts and not get into any of your own.

Control Your Performance Anxiety

Many brides and grooms face performance anxiety on the day of the wedding. Understand that the friends and family members who are attending your wedding are your own people. They are not people who will judge you based on your performance on the wedding day.
Understand that they are a forgiving kind of people, and you don't have to get worked up over having everything perfect to the 'T'. Remember, even Princess Diana faltered while taking her husband's name at their wedding, so learn to ignore small problems.

Hire a Wedding Planner

Many brides act as 'know-it-all' and try to plan their own wedding. While this is effective in case you have a limited budget, hiring a wedding planner will relive you of more than half your wedding planning stress. A wedding planner will take care of all your needs.
As you will have a long list of work to be completed, it is always better that it is handled by a professional, so that nothing is left out. You don't want to fret over the color of candles, guest seating, and invitations.

Dealing with Over-bearing People

Like it happens at all weddings, there will be a few over-bearing people, who will ensure that they make your life difficult by dictating their terms. If you do not appreciate bright-yellow dresses for your bridesmaids but are going with them only because your mother-in-law thinks so, put your foot down.
Try to tell her that it is your wedding, and you appreciate her involvement and suggestions, but you have something else on your mind.

Meditation

With so many tasks to execute before the wedding, one may feel pressurized and burdened, emotionally and physically. Try to meditate to keep worry off your thoughts. If you don't have time for it, you can even meditate while lying in your bed at night. This will help you to relax, rejuvenate, and replenish your energy.

Have Some 'Me' Time

The best way to unwind from the wedding planning stress is to spend some quality 'me' time pampering yourself. Hit the salon and get a nice facial, or enjoy a day at the spa getting a soothing massage. Some essential oils like lavender, rose, chamomile, basil, and jasmine have calming and relaxing capabilities.
Using these oils will help to enhance your mood and uplift your spirit. You can also use perfumed candles or floral tea to make you feel better.

Unplugged Weekend

After spending months and months planning your wedding, take a break, and try to spend an unplugged
weekend before your wedding with your beau. Go to an exotic place for a day or two, and talk about everything else other than the wedding.
Play video games, listen to music, dance, cook dinners for each other; do everything that will help you to unwind and de-stress. But follow the 'no-wedding-talk' rule.

Journal Your Emotions

A wedding is a very emotional time for the couple, and it may so happen that you may not be able to openly express what you feel. Maybe you are thinking about your late father, and wanted him to walk you down the aisle.
Instead of bottling up your emotions and allowing them to burst out on the wedding day, maintain a journal to express yourself. It will act as a great stress buster.
Apart from this, speaking to your friends and family members who have 'been there, done that' will help you to get some kind of reassurance and insight into what you will go through on the wedding day. There may come a time, that in your excitement, you may want to change things at the very last minute.
Fall for this trap, and you will ruin a well-planned wedding. After a certain period, stop changing things which have been set for the wedding. This will definitely save you some regrets. A wedding is a blissful time for you and your fiancé, so just stay calm and enjoy the special moments, which will become memories for a lifetime.
