Modern Wedding Vows

Writing your own wedding vows will add that special personal touch to the ceremony. This story provides some samples to help you come up with your own version of the same.

If you are about to get married, it's certain that you must have spent days on deciding the decoration, food, your dress, invitations, etc. Besides these, there is one more very important thing without which a wedding ceremony is considered incomplete - your wedding vows.
Wedding vows offer the perfect opportunity to tell your would be partner how much you love and care for him/her. And that how you would want your love to be with you for the rest of your life. To convey these feelings to your partner, you can either rely on the traditional ones, which by the way will sound too clichéd, or you can write your own vows.
Although, I feel that wedding vows should be heartfelt and every one should write their own. Still, if you are unable to put words to your feelings, here are some samples, from which you can take inspiration.

Romantic Wedding Vows

#1

I promise to accept you the way you are.
I fell in love with you for the qualities, abilities, and outlook on life that you have, and won't try to reshape you in a different image.
I promise to respect you as a person with your own interests, desires, and needs, and to realize that those are sometimes different, but no less important than my own.

I promise to keep myself open to you, to let you see through the window of my personal world into my innermost fears and feelings, secrets and dreams.
I promise to grow along with you, to be willing to face change as we both change in order to keep our relationship alive and exciting.
And finally, I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all I feel inside in the only way I know how...completely and forever.

#2

Before my life was joined with yours, I was incomplete. Before I loved you, everything was dark. Now that our lives are joined, I am full in love, in laughter and in light. You are my everything and I give all I have to you, that you may have all you want and need.

#3

I used to be afraid of falling in love, of giving my heart away.
How could I trust a (man/woman) to love me,
to give to me all that I wanted to give to (him/her)?
(Name), when I met you, I realized how much we could share together.
You have renewed my life:
Today I join that life with yours.

#4

It's been two years since we first met, and one year since we fell in love.
Today, as we start a whole new chapter of our life, I make a solemn vow to be ever-faithful to you, to be the guardian of your heart, to be the shoulder you cry on, to be your pillar of strength, to be your best friend, and most of all, to be your never ending fountain of love and support - by Lynn Lopez

Short Wedding Vows

#1

(Bride/Groom), you are my best friend. I love you with all my heart and stand here before all of our friends and family, sharing the happiest day of my life. I want nothing more than to share my future with you - my triumphs and my challenges, my joys and my sorrows. Together, I know we can accomplish the life we both dream of living.

#2

I acknowledge my love for you and invite you to share my life as I hope to share yours. I promise to walk by your side, to love, help and encourage you. I vow to take time to share with you,to listen and to care. I will share your laughter and your tears as your partner, lover and friend.
I promise always to respect you and honor you as an individual and to be conscious of your needs.
I shall seek through kindness and compassion to achieve with you the life we have planned together.

#3

It is the greatest desire of my heart to be faithful to you and to love you always, seeking to meet your every need, desiring to help in every way, listening to you, encouraging you, comforting you and standing by your side in whatever circumstances may face us in the years ahead.
I will respect you, honor you and strive for harmony in our marriage with a quiet and gentle spirit.

#4

I, (name) promise to honor and love you, (name)
To remain honest and faithful to you,
To comfort you when you are sad,
To share your joy when you are happy,
To support you,
To grow in love with you,
And to appreciate you,
This day and each day, as long as we shall live.
In the end, all I can say is that put in a lot of emotions and feelings when you say your wedding vows. Be as genuine and loving as possible, 'cause whatever you say to your spouse on your wedding day, it will remain with them for their entire life.
