Sending a note to friends and relatives is a beautiful way to express your and gratitude for their gracious presence on your wedding day. They signify the affection that you feel for the people who were a part of one of the most important days of your life.
A Few Tips
Make sure to write your thank you notes, and mail them to the guests within 2 - 3 weeks of the wedding.
You and your spouse can divide the work.
Notes that are handwritten, express your gratefulness better than the 'store-bought ones'.
Buy some nice stationary, and concentrate on the font style.
Notes written in dark blue or black ink, are easily readable compared to any other color.
Do mention the return address on the thank you notes.
The first line of the card should be 'Dear, (name of the receiver)'.
Start the note with a heart felt 'thank you', or a poem.
Keep the note brief and avoid being too creative.
Mention the gift that you have received, and state how thankful you are for the same.
Include a line or two, appreciating their presence, for example, "We were glad that you could find time from your busy schedule to attend our wedding."
If you have received a gift from someone who was not present at the event, then you can add lines like, hope you are well, and it would have been a great pleasure to see you at our wedding, or looking forward to meeting you soon.
End your note with endearing words like Love or Yours' truly, whichever is suitable.
Seal the envelope and write the correct address.
Before that, read the note for spelling mistakes.

For Those Who Gave Cash or Gift Card
Dear Uncle Ted,
Sarah and I wanted to thank you for the generous check that you gave us on our wedding. We are saving to buy a new house, and it will serve as the down payment. Thank you so much for your thoughtful gift. Can't wait to invite you for the housewarming party. Hope to see you soon.
Love, Christine.
It would be a good idea to thank your parents as well. You can either choose to give them a thank you note, or give them a gift. You can also make a video, that includes family photographs starting from your childhood, to the wedding day.
At the end of the video, you may display a message saying, 'Thank you for all that you have given, and for always being there by my side.' Another good idea would be to gift them a short trip, so that they can relax.
